Lovely lady

For those of you who don't know.

I have a great affection for sea turtles.

Most specifically, Loggerhead sea turtles.

Known for their large heads, hence the name Loggerhead.

Their jaws are powerful, able to crush the shells of whelks and conch.

Also known as Caretta caretta.

They average 36 inches long, but can reach 4 feet.

They can weigh almost 300 pounds!

They live 47 to 67 years.

They are omnivorous.

Yellowish in color with shells leaning towards reddish brown.

The momma turtle will travel about 7,500 miles to nest on the same beach she was born on.

The males travel to their birthplace as well to mate.

Low key visitor

An incredible day here at the campground in Wind Creek State Park. The day began easily enough with coffee, bible study, and breakfast. We then broke out the bikes to explore campsites. You see, we are already planning to come back! After bike riding we sat outside and cooled down for awhile. Me steadily painting while Chris surfed his phone. Chris fixed sandwiches for us for lunch and we decided to go for a walk to the marina to get ice cream. I then finished this painting and came inside the camper. We both relaxed while waiting for a storm to pass through. The storm never appeared although the wind did pick up quite a bit.

I am now writing, praying that my brother can recover from Covid which he was diagnosed with this evening.

This virus is not done by a long shot. Please get vaccinated, wear a mask, social distance, and wash your hands frequently.
