More from the hardi bord series.

These actually already have the resin on them too!

We still have to sand the backs to get rid of drips.

We will also have to drill holes in them and apply recycled wires.

I think I may have enough copper wire to do all of them.

Finally, I will have outdoor art to offer at a show.

These are stinkin' heavy though!

Showtime in less than a month now, I am working steadily to 

create enough for galleries and my booth.

Jubilee Festival is fast approaching in beautiful Daphne, Alabama

Sept. 26 & 27, 2020

The committee is working doubly hard to make sure we have a safe and fun festival.

I have had friends that have had shows already with multiple safety features in place.

Not one has gotten ill so far.

Today I found myself in Mobile, taking the illustrations to Southern Art & Framing to get them to mount the watercolors on acid free matboard using a vacuum press.

Just as we were getting to this side of the bay, they called to tell me that they were ready.

So, back to Mobile I go in the morning.

I am anxious to see them leave my hands and arrive at the publishers safe and sound.

My first job of illustrating is soon to be a reality!

Days 63 & 64 of the 100 days~100 paintings 2020

 

What an amazing and hectic two weeks!

It really is hard to post when your 

internet is sketchy, 

your phone does not cooperate, 

and you're too tired to work everything all out!

Needless to say the past couple of weeks have been a roller coaster with a rocket attached.

When I began the 100 days for the fall, I was full of enthusiasm and optimism.

Those of you who know me, know that I can pack a lot of activity into a day and pack we did!

The first few days were filled with a recycled class at the Eastern Shore Art Center for kids.

My grandson was also staying with us and going to class with great enthusiasm. 

We had an Artwalk in Fairhope on the first Friday before he arrived.

Our Daughter in law had a birthday party in Mobile that week.

We also went to a movie with the grandchild, family, and church.

Then we spent long periods of time in the pool with our grandson playing long and hard.

The weekend was spent getting ready for the following week's classes at the 

Mobile Museum of Art all day. I left the house at 6:30am and got home at 6:00pm every day.

Thoroughly enjoyable, but exhausting between an average of 19 children for 8 hours, and 2 hours of driving each day! I have a profound respect for teachers that do this day in and day out, molding the active minds of active crazy children on the threshold of raging hormones!

Anyway, we created a lot of art.

I also managed to get a brad nail that shot partially into my finger while 

putting together wood sculptures on the first day!

We had long hard hours spent on our impressionism project of the Flamingo at the top.

(I LOVE THIS PROJECT!)

Crayons, wood, cardboard, paint!

Several other projects managed to find their way into my portfolio as well, 

all while demonstrating to the kids!

In the midst of this, I was cutting, packing, and repacking for my mission to Africa!

There are three bags now, all stuffed to almost capacity with art supplies and surprises for the people there.

I want to bring more, but there is always next year!

MY clothes have for the most part, fit into a rolling backpack weighing less than 15 pounds.

The internet, and electricity have been iffy over in Chidobe, 

so posting anything from Africa may be wishful at best!

Rest assured, I will be creating, and trying to post to blog and Facebook.

Let the adventures in Africa begin at 4 am Tuesday morning!

Flamingo IV

The last in the series of Flamingos for now. Each measuring 10 x 20 inches they are made to be in pairs although they can be bought individually. If you notice two face right, two face left. 

Art class is almost over at the Art Center and so will children's summer classes be finished for me!

I can then work on the program for Atelier class at the Eastern Shore Art Center for the Fall. The classes will be on Tuesdays after school, starting in September. What is Atelier? The word means studio in French and it is an anything goes class. We have done painting, recycled art, wire art, 

paper mache, sculpture and so much more! I look forward to an exciting fall with the little ones!

I am also preparing for Fall classes with ESILL, Eastern Shore Institute of Lifelong Learning. I am offering a beginning Watercolor class, An intermediate Watercolor class, 

Beginning Acrylics (or Oils), and continuing Acrylics. The classes start in September as well. Look for their flier to come out shortly!

I will also be teaching again at my church, Scripts & Strokes starts on Monday's in September as well. Add in a couple of shows, 100 days of paintings, and life is rocking here at the 

Raccoon Retreat Studio!

This series has been fun this week. Only one more I promise!

I am teaching at the Eastern Shore Art Center this week. The kids are so creative in their projects I am amazed!

Flamingo II

I am once again teaching at the Eastern Shore Art Center. This week the class is slightly smaller, but no less intense! I try to keep the kids busy with creating. 

(After all, that IS what they are in class to do, create!)

Hopefully they are having fun while they are making their masterpieces.

A side note, I am also going through my Ahem, dozen boxes of supplies!

Finally letting go of some of the clutter, and trying to get it down to one box of supplies, 

and one box of teaching examples. We are trying new projects this year, so there will be more examples to pack after classes are over until fall.

Flamingo II is another in the series of birds coming from my easel of late. It also is in color, which is something people have been requesting. I love painting them, they are so fun!

Day 16 of the 100 days~100 paintings

Flamingo I

Flamingo I is a painting done from photographs I took several years ago while on a trip to the keys. I was fascinated by the birds, dipping and jumping in the water. We were visiting a small animal park  and I really was impressed by the variety of animals calling this place home!

On a side note, my show and teaching schedule is firming up as we speak! I've already received acceptance letters from National Shrimp Festival, Gulf Shores Mid October, Jubilee Festival, Daphne Late September. Still waiting to hear from Peter Anderson in Ocean Springs, 1st weekend in November.
