Feeling partly cloudy

I'm feeling partly cloudy that is!
It has been a looooooooooong day to say the least!
I started out as usual with my Bible readings, journaling and sending Scriptures
and my journal entry to my friends in Africa.
This is a daily ritual for me, starting with the readings and ending with the texts.
I then can start my day!
I went to the bank first in an effort to help Christina with a transfer but it was a useless trip.
I then went on to the church in an effort to organize before others showed up wanting to help.
I got there at about 9:15.
Help showed up around 10 and boy did we work.
In between letting them know what was next to complete, I was building clouds.
At least I pray they look like clouds.
Problem is, I needed a virtual ton of Chinese lanterns to build them, but all I could find were itty bitty ones at Dollar tree. I bought what I could, but it was not enough to make large clouds.
After going to three stores with no luck, I ended up back at Dollar Tree.
The holy spirit nudges me frequently, and the trip to Dollar Tree was no exception.
I purchased a dozen baskets, and 15 colanders.
This gave me 4 baskets and five colanders apiece for the clouds.
I used zip ties to put them together.
That afternoon one of my good friends came and brought the batting
I had asked her to purchase for me.
We wrapped the bundles of basketry with paper, Then used the batting to cover the paper.
We then added pieces here and there to fill them out.
I am pleased, but very tired as I did not get home until 6pm.
I started a blue crab painting, to day but will finish it in the morning,
as my back and neck are giving me fits right now.
Time for a hot shower, and bedtime!

I have talent enough to share with others.
I have a home that is ours.
I have friends that are wonderful.
I have family that is blessed in their talents.
I have a job I love.
I have a wonderful church.
I have a long lasting marriage to a man that I love dearly.
I am saved.
I am the daughter of a King!
I am blessed beyond my biggest imagination.
I can only imagine what heaven is like, but  I know it will be amazing!

Summer Surge!

Summer Surge is Celebration Church's version of VBS.
Our theme is usually not a pre-set skit, but a carefully written and orchestrated learning experience for children from ages 5- 12. My husband got pulled into this one as well as others before. The difference is, he is retired now and does not have to do projects after work! Many thanks to my husband of 38 years Chris Chavez. We also seriously scored a lot of the lumber for free! (I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I'm also not scared to ask!) I love being a part of the effort, donating my talents to do God's work. This set is also much smaller than the ones I've been privileged to be a part of in previous years. I really enjoy using my talents for the children and the Pastors and the church!

Faith~Love~Hope

These sepias prove the beauty of black and white. (or at least dark brown and white!). I finally have the time (and the internet working for the moment) to post the past few days of hectic activity. As you can see, I am still at peace with my maker and joyful about life in general.
I am a daily bible reader, and teach paintings for a small group that are based on scriptures. This one is really calling me to put it in color and add it to the paintings we offer at Art party to you as well as my own group that paints with me at the church. Look out fall, here we come!

Trixie gone Wild and More!

One of the things I absolutely Love about Art Camp with children is the freedom of expression it gives me. The other thing I love is my dachshunds. This painting combines the two! I try to do really fun and crazy projects with the kids and this was no exception. We all drew whimsical pieces based on photos I brought. We then added lots of color in a freestyle way. Blacks and little details were added next and Trixie gone Wild was the result.

So much fun creating with the kids!

"Swift" was painted while at lunch at the museum. I took advantage of the break from teaching last week to paint another turtle. Another in the sepia series, this one only adds to the works that will be presented this fall. (If it makes it that far, sometimes they are purchased rather quickly!).

"Southern Magnolia" was painted with the Plein Air group at the museum last week. This truly is one of my favorites to come out of this class. The kids enjoy painting "en plein air" and this is our third (maybe fourth? ) year to offer it for the older children. They really get a new found respect from this class because of the somewhat harsh conditions offred up while painting outside. Bugs, dirt, transporting supplies, sunburns, discomfort, thirst, and sweat running down your back are just some of the problems presented while "Outside in the Air"

"Love" This one was designed for the group of kids painting at the Church Art camp this week at Celebration Church. I love painting fun and colorful pieces. Teaching children allows me to do just that! I am always amazed at how much fun can be had by just putting paint on a canvas!
