Art pARTy to You and art camp with the wee ones!

Art pARTy to You is a business my girlfriend, Linda Scoot and I started recently. We are having a lot of fun and  learning a great deal about all kinds of things while running a business! Most of all, making sure our clients are happy with their completed piece and wanting to come back for more! Our first Manci Monday was a rousing success, with over 20 people in attendance.

Surely you jest! and There's an Alligator! are pieces that were completed with the 4-6 year olds at the Daphne Art Center this past week. Each piece of art was inspired by a book we read first, We made a mobile, a jester, a mouse sculpture, an alligator painting, and a spider sculpture. A fun time was had by all 

(at least I think they had fun!) The Daphne Art Center is also on Facebook for additional photos. We dabbled in glitter, watercolor, Acrylic, newspaper, and recycled art all in this Atelier class.

This catches me up on the current painting a day. I am still having some issues with the internet, but things have calmed down for now. Let the REAL painting begin!  

Elementary my Dear!

       The age group of 8-11 year olds got to paint in two classes as well Watercolor and Acrylics that pop! were on the menu last week. The kids had a lot of fun and I am sure that the  Pop Dachshunds will end up at Art Party to you in some form or another!

Black Tar Paper paintings and the Mobile Museum of Art 2014

     I was introduced to Tar Paper several years ago and am always delighted with the results. The Tweens at the Museum painted both Middle Bay and a self portrait on this versatile paper. While probably not a permanent piece of art, it still is impressive!

Painting with the "tweenagers" En Plein Aire!

" En Plein Aire" one of the classes I taught at the museum during the past three weeks, This class took the children, ages 12 & up on an outdoor adventure into the world of outdoor art. It is always interesting to see what the kids come out with in this class. In the beginning, a lot of I can'ts, by the end of the week, I can't believe I did thats! Always enjoyable, always changing, sometimes unpredictable. Outdoor painting is a challenge for adults and children alike. We battled heat, rain, bugs, and lawn maintenance!

Faith~Love~Hope

     
       These sepias prove the beauty of black and white. (or at least dark brown and white!). I finally have the time (and the internet working for the moment) to post the past few days of hectic activity. As you can see, I am still at peace with my maker and joyful about life in general.
        I am a daily bible reader, and teach paintings for a small group that are based on scriptures. This one is really calling me to put it in color and add it to the paintings we offer at Art party to you as well as my own group that paints with me at the church. Look out fall, here we come!

Barnyard friends

        Barnyard friends came about as a result of a show I did last fall. While at another show, a gentleman approached me and asked if I would be willing to show my art a small local Barbecue competition. Game for anything once, I showed my work in addition to new barnyard art and sayings pieces painted specifically for the show. I sold a few, but their place is now firmly in the galleries that represent my work.

       This guy is so absolutely adorable and really reminds me of the pig, (Wilbur?), the from Charlotte's web.

       This one took me back to my animal husbandry class in my Junior high years. It was a tremendous program, taught by a teacher that was wonderful for and with his students. We had to have an animal to raise and take it from birth to basically meat. Our choices were, a calf, a sheep, or a pig. I knew my parents could not afford any of those at that time so I asked if I could raise rabbits. Permission given, we built a hutch and I raised my critters from start to finish. My product ended the class with a price of about 50 cents a pound if I recall correctly. It was a learning curve I will never forget!
