Lionfish are some of my favorite fish to paint!
I love all their beautiful fins.
Those fins are deadly though.
Not so much for us as humans, but to other fish.
The deadliest part though is the way they use their fins.
When they encounter something they want to eat.
Usually very small baby game fish.
They simply encircle the fish and inhale.
They have extremely large mouths.
When captured and dissected, they have been found with dozens of babies inside.
Now, divers have discovered a new source of income.
Capturing lionfish and selling them to restaurants.
I hear they're delicious!
